Why is My Card Being Declined?
If you're experiencing card declines, it can be frustrating. Here are some common reasons why your card might be declined, along with additional details for suspected fraud:
Common Decline Reasons:
Card Verification Value (CVV) Failed: This means the security code on the back of your card didn't match what we have on file.
Incorrect PIN: You entered the wrong PIN for your card.
Exceeds Amount Limit: The transaction amount is higher than your card's daily or overall spending limit.
Insufficient Funds: You don't have enough money in your account to cover the transaction.
Requested Function Not Supported: This could be due to various reasons, such as card restrictions or system issues.
Allowable PIN Tries Exceeded: You've entered the wrong PIN too many times.
Suspected Fraud: The transaction was flagged by Visa's security system as potentially fraudulent. Visa may also call or text the cardholder directly to verify the transaction. Unfortunately, we don't have direct control over this process.
Closed Account: Your card account has been closed.
Do Not Honor: This is a general decline code that could indicate various issues.
Cardholder Blocked: Your card has been temporarily blocked, perhaps due to security reasons or a dispute.
Card Stolen: Your card has been reported stolen.
Restricted Card: Your card is restricted from use in certain countries or regions.
ExceedsStandInLimit : These are very rare and occur when there's a temporary communication issue between Visa and the bank, preventing account balance verification. This is not a persistent decline reason.
